Tweed Heads Apartments

In collaboration with Tony Owen Partners Architects, CPS was engaged to undertake the landscape design for a new residential flat building in Pearl Street, Tweed Heads. Taking inspiration from the Architect’s flowing building forms, evocative of the local surf waves, CPS designed a series of landscape spaces that integrated and played with this idea of ‘flow’.

Raised planters include plant species that spill over the edge of the walls as they grow, representing the slow creep of the nearby tides. Curves, arcs and bends have been incorporated into the design to further embody the sense of movement. A large, organic shaped pool is bound by several surface materials to create interest, including decking, lawn, pavers and large format stepping-stones with groundcover planting.

The rooftop space continues the theme of ‘flow’ with the inclusion of swayed paving and lawn edges and an organic shaped shade structure. BBQ facilities and communal dining areas are provided to maintain social interaction between residents, whilst quiet breakout seating spaces are also provided for a more intimate experience.
